I had intended putting seagrass carpet on my stairs and landing. However the sales person in the store said that Seagrass carpets are a pain to fit and keep, as they shrink when you wash them. Has anyone had this experience? Tks! -

a hard wearing area like a stairs should have a durable carpet - also I recommend going for a underlay the the Stairs area as it gets most traffic. You can get a felt back carpet that has the underlay as part of the carpet. This can save you money when buying and fitting. you can view more information on carpets here http://www.furniture.ie/forum/about328.html Thanks, Richard -

We had a Sisal carpet fitted on our stairs and landing last month. We didn't fit it ourselves but it certainly is a bit more complex than fitting a "normal" carpet. The underlay has to be glued to the floor and the carpet is then glued to the underlay. As for shrinkage - I think you'd find it pretty tough to wash a Seagrass carpet in the first place! -
