I heard about this over the weekend and would like to know if anyone has got these and what they are for? In general it appears that you can get a grant if you are going to use energy saving servcices in your home. Such as wood pellets - solar etc. Good idea but is it worth the hastle? These grants are a very positive move... especially if you can include the cost of the new system in your original housing cost/mortgage it is an extremly cost effective and environmentally friendly.
Full details available here.

The equipment cost is approximately twice that for oil or gas, bulk wood fuel can be delivered at approximately 1.5c/kWh for chip and 3.0c/kWh for pellets.
This compares to 4.6c/kWh for heating oil and over 5.0cent/kWh for LPG.

With this rise for 2007 surely we are getting to a point where more renewable will become viable. Are these ESB rises justified? -
- CommentTimeSep 25th 2006
I believe that these rates rises are unjustified. The regulator says that the ESB cannot absorb the cost of increased fuel. How much is this rate rise going to take out of the economy? I believe it will have a far greater effect. Gradually disposable incomes in Ireland are being reduced, it will impact on spending and the economy as a whole. Richard
