If anyone is considering buying any products from LAND OF LEATHER I urge you STOP>>> DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE if you value your sanity. I ordered 3 sofas on Jan 2nd 2006 on the first 12 months no payments. I received my contracts in the post (because I bought them online) signed them and returned them, 2 weeks later I received another copy to be signed again, I did this and phoned them to find out what happened to the first lot and they said they were signed wrong... (I know how to sign my name) a month later I received 2 more copies.. Again I phoned them, they told me they never received any signed copies of the contract (I must have imagined the phone calls I had with them over the first 2 copies) ! I rang, emailed and wrote to find out what was happening.. I got absolutely no where, I was passed from one person to another each telling me something different, one guy even told me I was not on the system as having ordered a sofa !! HE NEVER HEARD OF ME !! I was out of patience and I phoned in April to cancel my order I was told I had to write ! (You've gotta be kidding) write to them, these people who didn't receive 3-signed contracts from me.. No way I emailed them, they didn't even have the courtesy to let me know they received my email or that the order was cancelled. I left it and bought my sofa from another company A PROFESSIONAL ONE !! but guess what ? Yes the end of April I received another contract from LAND OF ASS***** I phoned again and the girl said she never sent one, God it must be the little green men at the end of my road, printing up contracts and sending them to me. I tried to talk to a manager but they don't seem to be near a phone when you want one so I emailed again (thank god for email) I got a lovely response the woman apologised said she'd look into it and contact me at the end of the week... that was 5 weeks ago !! I never head back and when I phoned she was always on lunch even at 10am in the morning ! So I emailed again but still no response. I received another contract in the post on Friday now I'm thinking of visiting them and telling them where to put their contracts. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE SHODDY PEOPLE. -

I ordered a 3+2 from Land of Leather and it wasn't even online I ordered it, I actually called into a store and they promised 12-16 weeks. Its now the 22nd week and no reply - delays in manufacture etc. Did I get a phonecall to alert to me of this delay - No. I called in to find out out if the delivery was on time around the time it was due to be told all this wonderful news. I fell this woman's pain at the top of the page. This is the typical highly infuriating lack of service you get from "Land of Langers".
I wonder what qualifications you need to work in Land of Leather, let me think: a. A Masters in Incompetency b. A Degree in Stupidity with Inability to Process Anything as your chosen elective c. Mating Calls of the Wild is probably in their protfolio of requirements as well I've no doubt.. For all those wonderful Land of Leather employees out there, here's the idea - Its quite simple - Get the contract signed in timely and appropriate fashion ensuring the customer is fully aware of what he is signing and any "special clauses" and timebombs you have in there, Order Sofa, Chase Manufacturer, Keep Customer informed of progress (to protect your reputation as good customer service provider, but I guess its a bit too late for Land of Langers to do anything in the area of repairs to reputation), Inform customer when sofa arrives. Job Done - Yay! Here's your banana. I think Fianna Fail should have the Liquidation of Land of Leather in their election policy.

Would someone add Arramount to the list of companies to be liquidated. I have had INCREDIBLE problems with them. Ordered a leather suite on Dec 31st and got a call from them Mar 30th to say it had arrived-a cream suite. No not mine-mine was green. Said they would check where it was and call back. No call. Rang them end of May-promised call back-no call. Rang middle of June after my hols and EVENTUALLY found out the suite was NEVER ordered!!! Muppet on the phone said they had awful problems getting them in-duh- if you havent ordered them how will you get them in!!! Offered me a brown one. If I had WANTED a brown one I would have ordered one. I am freaking out at this stage and I'm the most patient of people. They have promised a refund of my 200 euro and it had better be in my account in the next few days or I am going there myself to create havoc. It was the Fonthill store in case you are tempted to buy there. -

Oaklands furniture in Limerick is equally bad....waited 23 weeks after being promised my suite in 6-8 weeks. I was initially understanding of the delays but then the customer service was so appalling I got frustrated - never rang back when they said they would and were unhelpful on the phone. Acted like I was bothering them for complaining about my suite and they couldn't understand what my problem was. Eventually called the owner who was more polite but said I'd have my suite in 5 more weeks - took another eight! We made the mistake of paying full price day one! Would urge others to avoid this store. Have used many other furniture staores and never had an experience like this! -

We ordered a suite from land of leather online at the end of May, really fast delivery, but the chair had a tear in it, and the recliner would'nt work. !st mistake should'nt of excepted, but the delivery man said they would just send a replacement and they were really good. When phoning them they said they would have to send someone out to repair it. He came and the recliner works but comes out on a slant, the cushion is 3ins higher than the other cushsions so really notices. I think we were sold a 2nd. The customer service is crap. They offered us £80 to accept the repair or a full refund once they picked up the suite, no offer of a replacement, but it would take about 4wks after for them to refund us. I phoned trading standards who were brillant. They are collecting the suite tommorrow with the cheque. They also are misleading people advertised adeal this weekend for a 3+2+1 blacl leather suite, with express delivery. There express delivery is 6wks. Also they said the deal lasts until 8pm tonight, they changed the price on the internet at 2pm today to £499, before that it was £399. I would never buy anything from them again. They act as if you should be grateful to buy something off them. The people on the phone sound as if you are bovering them. DON'T BUY FROM THEM CAUSE THEY REALLY DON'T CARE AFTER THEY HAVE RECIEVED YOUR MONEY LAND OF FAUDSTERS..............................

Unfortunately I found this warning too late in my case, as my deposit was paid on 1st July 2007 and I joined the group of dissatisfied customers of Land of Leather. On the order form the delivery term was between 12 and 15 weeks, but the sales people convinced me that such a long delivery terms were never a case in the past and it will be much sooner. I've contacted them three weeks ago asking for delivery, as I was informed at the store that furniture will be in Dublin not sooner but in time about 20th September 2007. I was told someone will call me back in a few minutes after checking what is the situation at the warehouse but few days passed and none tried to contact me. I phoned once again and I've heard that my furniture are in custome duty and someone from warehouse will contact me in a few days. Next week the same information was passed to me when I phoned the supplier. The week after as usual I phoned them again but this time I was told the furniture delivery will be delayed as still nothing arrived from Scotland and they are expecting the delivery at 14th October, from this date it will be about 14 days for custome duty procedure. It is already after 15 weeks so I was expecting compensation from their side, as the terms of signed order are not kept . I've heard in return that nothing will be offered as by Irish Law they have rights for the delay of 4 weeks, so they may even keep my furniture longer at warehouse if they want. The person - office manager ffrom Bray - I can not named that in any other way - was extremely rude. He said that it is up to me if I want still this furniture, if not they will keep the deposit as they are so customer oriented and will follow any customer wish. Both me and my colleague heard as well that all the customers are always wrong. I've never in my live came accross such a bad customer service, so if you are planning to buy any furniture don't deal with Land of Leather. I regret that this opinion can not be placed in media: press, radio, tv, so as more people will be warned. It is too late in my case...

Thanks to you guys I have been saved from possible frustration. I was looking on the net for a new sofa and was considering buying from Land of Leather. Not only will I now omit them from my search but I will pass your comments on to all friends and family.
Let us all make a pact to inform everyone we know about bad customer services. I am fed up with bad service. If we all stop buying from companies who refuse to train their employees properly maybe they will eventually get the hint and provide a good service. SAY NO TO LAND OF LEATHER UNTIL THEY GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER and SAY NO TO BAD SERVICE AND BROKEN PROMISES.

We totally agree with most people on here NEVER BUY FROM LAND OF LEATHER!. We purchased a suite a year ago and declined the warranty. After paying the full amount of the cost of couch we got a letter through saying we owe 1300 for insurance. Basically we declined but the sales rep put down that we said yes! so, we had too pay as we got a legal letter through. The couch got damaged and we thought we will claim on insurance since we now have it. They sent a man out 5 months after we applied and he glued the rips together (I could have done a better job). We emailed picures of this so called repair to which they said they will send someone else out. a month leter they sent someone who ripped the leather off for fixing which couldnt be done. We got the option of cash €420 or credit note for €1200 which we had to accept as what could we do with €420. We picked a couch for €999 as all the other prices of suites would have left us paying more cash to them. We were told by the Manager at Airside Swords, to pick something else from store to use up money. We picked a table. We signed and then 3 days later got a call from Manager saying we can not have the table. No explanation just that he made a mistake. We said we were contacting a Solicitor after a year of messing around including been left with a leatherless couch with staples sticking our everywhere to which he replied' I will look forward to it'' and hung up on us. On top of this, when the sales rep realised we would be paying by credit note and that he would not be getting commission, he left us stranded to deal with a cash paying customer whixh we waited for half hour until we went to get him back to finish our sale.
It amazes me how consumers can treat paying customers this way. Oh and the delivery date for our new couch is in Jan, but with the Solicitors letter arriving with them soon I am sure i will be a lot longer than they say!!! -

Serves you right for doing Finance online, all companies who use finance products require origanl signatures and ids, you could have saved yourself a huge amount of stress by visiting the stores near you and speaking face to face with someone !!

I've just been let down completely by Land Of Leather, on the day of delivery the driver phoned us and told us that our sofa had been damaged and was not fit for use, we had already sold our sofa, redecorated and reconfigured the lounge for it to fit. I contacted land of leather and they have stopped selling our suite and will not now be supplying us this sofa and they sell nothing of any resembalance. No sorries just tough, what an absolute bunch of sh**s. IF YOU BUY FROM THEM YOU MUST BE MAD.

Originally had a couch from LOL, got damaged, got Credit note 8 months later and went in in Oct 07 to pick a new one.
Rang in Dec 07 to find out status of order only to be told that we had rang and cancelled that order!!!!! we did not cancell any order. So, we had to order it again, to be told it will be with is in a few weeks.
Its now March, and guess what...still no couch.
First call asking where it is, was told that its in the docks clearing customs (in Jan). Rang two weeks later, spoke to a different person saying that its not in the docks yet. Rang later that day to see what they might tell me and they say its in the warehouse and to expect a call in a cpl of days to collect sofa. Called again today and was told that its not in the warehouse yet!!!!! We are so confused with all these lies.....so basically, we ordered sofa on Oct 14th, its now March 3rd and its not even in the warehouse yet...or so they say!!!!

answering vallery,in my experience you should not accept the repairs and tell the finance and the store that you wish to cancel the contract and the agreement, make sure you record your post and send copies to store, head office and finance co so they all know about dispute. You have the right to refuse faulty goods quote 'sale and supply of goods act 1994' For the purpose of this act, there is an implied term that the goods supplied under contract are of satisfactory quality. Goods are of satisfactory quality if they meet the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, that is to say the goods are fit for purpose. You are also allowed a reasonable time to examine the goods if you ordered by sample, eg if you did not recieve the 'shop floor' item, but ordered a different colour. In any event I urge you strongly to request Land of Leather to remove the goods and cancel all agreements, you will not manage to get any sasisfaction from the team at metro store, they don't even answer calls.
I have contacted trading standards who were most helpful, but I am now about to take legal action if my latest letter does not resolve the ongoing problems I am having.
To debbie35 Good luck to to you, the staff were very defensive when I asked about the initial delivery, ordered beginning Nov 07, due end of Jan 08 and delivered (damaged) mid February 08, Ta\ke my advice and try to cancel now, before you have all the hassle.
If you have time you can read the attachment, there's an aweful lot more gone on since that letter though !

We bought a 3, 2 and 1 seater from Land of Leather. We got excellent service at the store and items arrived promptly as advised. After delivery lads had gone, I noticed 1 recliner did not recline. I rang the customer service centre and a repair man came out and fixed problem in a few days also sealed a pin hole tear to rear of two seater couch. Overall really happy with the furniture and service.
I also purchased a corner unit from Jim Langans and have had no problems at all - all good.

Just to say these forums are great but word of mouth is always the best source of advice, don't believe everything you read on these pages, god alot of people are honest but some, nearly the majority have there own issues with companies...I would just like to say I have never worked for land of Leather but have worked for a multinational store that had dealings with furniture and goods that have a certain lead time and the secret is people working in these companies have little control on the supply of certain speciallity goods..and if damage occurs which in most cases it doesn't they always try there best to remedy this and also in the case of finance, customer service and online ordering it's not particularly fair to refer to workers in branches in terms which probably are more appropriate to the numbskulls that they deal with up and down the country...patience is a virtue and in customer service it's usually the person you are talking to in the store trying their best to help you out that needs it!

I just want to add we have just had our sofas and chair taken back after we found out ours was one of the ones that have been in the news about causing skin problems and after having it since nov 2005. But it was not land of leather that told us there was anything wrong it was an ad in my mums paper i have suffered from skin rashes for a while now and have had pain and minor surgery to try to find out what the problem was. My daughters also suffered.
From what i gather they have known about for a while but not once did they contact us when i phoned them last week i was offered i full refund or replacement straight away so they know they were in the wrong i am taking the refund as no longer want anything to do with them and im also taking legal action against them as i have suffered a great deal and it also nearly cost me my marriage as was really stressful not knowing what was wrong even thought i was going mad!!!
I would never go back to land of leather knowing what i know now

I have to say that some of the comments on here about LOL are unfair. I have no doubt that some people here have had bad experiences with this company for one reason or another. But they cannot all be painted with the same brush. I know someone who works for them and that person is honest and upfront about fees, warranties, delivery times, etc. And if for some reason, if they have inadvertently given out incorrect information, they call the customer to let them know. I have purchased a 3-1-1 from them and have had no problems at all. The delivery came when it was suppost to. And for some who go on about finding furniture places that offer free delivery, please keep this in mind: NOTHING HERE, ESPECIALLY IN RIPOFF REPUBLIC OF IRELAND IS FREE!!!!!! The furniture companies increase the cost of the furniture to be able to offer "free" delivery. Having worked for many years here in retail, my experience with some Irish consumers is that when the slightest thing goes wrong, they either call up or call in and rant and rave and yell, spewing about their "rights" without acting like decent human beings. Mistakes do happen, people are human, as unfortunate as that might be. And to be fair, put yourself in the sales persons' shoes: who would you be more likely to go out of your way for and help with an issue: someone who is dissatisfied for whatever reason but is being firm but reasonable about their complaint or some idiot who gets on their soapbox screaming, shouting, and being unreasonable? If people here search their conscience, they know the answer. Some things in life go beyond someone/company, etc being right or wrong, but about being decent and reasonable. All I can say is I'm so thankful to be out of the retail industry!

Hi folks,
My wife ordered a 3-2-1 from Land of Leather about 6 months ago. It was due to be delivered after 6 weeks. 20 weeks passed, the 3 and 2 seater were in but the single wasn't. we needed the suite so we organised collection ourselves of the 3 and 2. They told us that when the single came in it would be delivered to us 'free of charge'.
The single did eventually come into the store and they told us to expect delivery. When they did bring it the delivery men wanted €100 for delivery. my wife told them that Land of Leather had agreed to deliver it free. She called them then. The guy at LOL told her to pay the lads and he would pay her after. She didn't agree with this as she had been told the delivery was free. They took the chair away with them.
By the time the chair arrived we were already having doubts about the suite. The cushions are very soft and anyone sitting on them sinks into the couch after a short time. we contacted Land of leather about this. A rep called out one evening and told my wife that it was fine; she just needed to fluff up the cushions every night. She complained further. Another guy called. He could see her point of view but he told her that the suite was the last in that line of suite; Land of Leather weren't dealing with the manufacturer anymore. Unfortunately she wouldn't be able to get a replacement, however if she had taken out the insurance she could have got her money back.
At this stage we have a suite that we don't believe is worth the €2400 paid for it, we're still down the single seater and wondering what to do about it. From inquiries made it seems that the small claims court will only deal with items upto €2000 in value. We may have to get a solicitor to take on the case.
Would anyone have any ideas to help us out?
Freeman.
