I believe that buying furniture in Ireland is a Rip-off, it is very hard to compare like with like and it is very difficult to shop around, I look forward to more competition in this area, but it may be too late for me and many like me as we have to get furniture for our new home. I for one will be buying as little as possible from furniture retailers as I have yet to see any of them with good quality, affordable furniture. LZ

I do believe there is value in the Irish Furniture Market, It is a very competitive market and every town in Ireland has several shops in it. There also are many more companies coming into the Irish Market, Multiples such as IKEA, Homebase, Harvey Norman. I myself believe that the Market is competitive but you do have to shop around. The purpose of Furniture.ie is to assist the consumer in this task. We would be delighted to have more and more shops working with us to make the site work to its optiminium potential. If any people come across any Bargains or companies they believe they got good value from feel free to use this forum to post the details. Thanks, Richard

We have some very good quality beds on our website for sale a number of retailers have similar products on their floor and the prices are very competitive across the board. I do recommend a price conscious shoper to spend the time to shop around.

In reply to the comment about lack of value or competitiveness in furniture, I would have to agree! I originally come from NI and have just bought an apartment in Dublin, which I'm now trying to furnish. I ordered a bed in Dublin only to discover it was 100euro cheaper in NI, that was including a special discount offer! I have been comparing prices since and would have to agree that there is no such thing as value in furniture in and around Dublin. I'm hoping to head to Navan this weekend as I have heard so many reports of it! Maybe I will see some value there to change my mind! H

Hi, Just in response to some of the comments above, i agree somewhat in what's being said, but my advice to people is too go to the smaller shops. You will find that the quality of product is much better and the service is friendly. I am of course biased as my wife run's Java Jewel Handcraft, an small retail shop offering Furniture and Accessories from Indonesia. Her prices are not expensive and you can haggle a little. What you will get in return is a unique piece of furniture that has been crafted to a topclass standard. Check out www.javajewel.ie for more details.
