We are planning our first kitchen, We got a quote and some information from both places. Any experience with any of those. Homebase told us that they don't do fitting and it takes around 6 weeks to deliver. I don't know about In-house We are based in Longford :) -

I got a kitchen from Cash and Carry, really reasonable but i didn't get them to fit it. I got a name of someone to fit my kitchen off a friend and he did it at the weekend, really tidy and nice job. Six weeks is quite a long time just to deliver but i suppose it all has to be made up to suit the shape of your room. -

I have found Cash and carry good but I don't think you save a lot after you have got it fitted etc. B&Q, cash and carry, inhouse all have more or less the same products. They can be got from a lot of local kitchen companies as well. This is a supplier that distributes to a lot of kitchen companies. http://www.springhill.ie I am sure they would give you contacts of companies in your own area. As a note when getting a quote for your own kitchen, to save you can cut down on the number of drawers it helps. as they add a lot of cost. Handles and fittings such as corner carosell units add a lot of cost. You can always add a freestanding unit such as a dresser or sideboard at a later stage. If you are going for a country style kitchen, i have found this company to have really nice products. http://www.strawbridge.ie/ Any other questions feel free to post Thanks, Richard -

I have contacted Springhill.ie for a list of dealers in my area. Surprisingly they replied within a couple of hours... that's a pro -

We got our kitchen from Inhouse in Cork just over 18 months ago and cannot recommend them highly enough. They are excellent for suggesting design ideas, and for matching your requirements with the design. We chose one of the more expensive oak doors but it was definitely worth it and the quality was much better than those we looked at in Homebase/CashnCarry etc. They did recommend an installer also, who fitted the kitchen very quickly, on time, and without any problems. The kitchen is in place 18 months and we still haven't had any problems - touch wood! -

Any indication for the price paid with Inhouse? -

Most kitchens in new first time buyer homes generally cost between 5000 and 10,000. Appliances generally are between 2000 and 3000 All depending on your spec etc. -

An investment in the kitchen is certainly worth it in the long term. It's the most used (quality) adds value (for resale) says something about the occupiers (taste) ..so I find always aim to give it something extra... -

Just from my experience in Kitchens I have found people who bought kitchens from Homebase and requested a fitting from us generally had bits and pieces missing from the whole job. Then there would be a 4-10 day wait for the part to be delivered in to the store from England. In-house I have dealt with myself over the years but found them to be a bit pricey. If it is of any interest to you we have just launched our own online Kitchen -e-commerce portal where people can get lots of information about Project Managing their own Kitchen Makeover plus buy all the materials required. We also sell appliances. There are video tutorials that people can view to help with their Kitchen makeover and they can even request a personal in-home consultation and 3D Graphic Design. Our online presence is known as Kitchenfitters.ie. -

I came across a website called www.kitchenindex.ie recently and found it great for tips on design and planning. You can look through photographs of kitchens and download brochures of kitchen companies. They have a list of suppliers all around Ireland aswell. Came in very handy.
