I ordered 2 cabinets from Jim Langans in Jan 08 and they finally got dlivered in Sept 08 despite being told they would be in stock and delivered within 6 weeks of ordering same. We found the staff to be very rude and unhelpful and they had to be forced to make a gesture of good will as an apology for the constant errors they made. After waiting 9 months for our furniture( stupid I know) when we unpacked them the glass panels did not fit correctly and after another lengthy battle they finally repaired the glass for us. Totally unsatisfactory service. All I can say is steer well clear of them becuase you won't have a pleasant experience either.

ordered leather sofa first week in Sept'08 paid almost half of it up front , told 12 week delivery, I am now waiting 24 weeks and just got a letter today to say it will be sometime in April absolutely disgraceful, could have had a baby in that length of time.

stgco5 - i have been trying to call them (head office and the store itself) but it has just been ringing out.
I am still owed some of my compensation on goods i received but to be honest i've already written it off and put it down to experience.
I would suggest looking up some consumer rights information online but i'm sure you're not the only one waiting on goods from them. it might be the case that they will see out their existing orders but their website is still active???
Fingers crossed! And remember people...... do NOT pay for ANYTHING up front, if it costs €1000 euro... a €300 deposit is all they should require to prove you are not going to back out. jim Langans had a warning sign over their heads from day 1.... they asked for the WHOLE amount... this is when the little voice that says..'Don't do it'... should really be listened to!

It was on the joe duffy show this morning, there was loads of people who paid in full for their goods and havent got them. As i said i am left with a loan table that is not in that good condition, luckily enough i got my replacment sofa on friday just gone, KPMG are their accountants and i rang them today as it said that they were going into liquidation. They said that they knew nothing about it and that they would ring me back , still waiting. I guess i just have to keep that table now.

I bought a table and chairs (paid in full upfront) from Jim Langans Liffey Valley in December with collection from their warehouse to be end of January or early February (I decided to collect because their delievery charge for outside Dublin was excessive). After numerous calls to both warehouse and shop I was told on Monay that my items had still not come in. Yesterday after speaking to the National Consumer Agency I sent a registered letter looking for a refund only to get a call saying they had gone into liquidation! Not really all that surprised. However, I called my bank because I had paid by credit card and hey advised me to write to them stating what happened and I would be refunded. All I can advise anyone waiting on refunds/furniture etc from Jim Langans is to contact the National Consumer Agency on 01 402 555 or check out their website for advice on what to do next. Good luck.

It is sad to hear about those of you who have been caught up in this unfortunate saga. For those of you having to repurchase or for those of you wary of where to buy furniture products at the moment, I can recommend Arnotts on Henry Street and Kenneth Hodgins near the Beacon South Quarter in Sandyford. Both of these companies are finacially solid, give great service and have a wide range of products that come from the best suppliers. I would also recommend buying Irish. There is traceability, lead times are realistic, and if there's a problem you don't need to wait for the next consignment from China. This will also benefit the economy overall. Lastly if anyone has queries regarding buying fabric sofas I am in the business and would happy to talk to you. My number is 086 8369305

For what it's worth Jim Langan does not own classic furniture, to the best of my knowledge it's his brother who does.
