I have a very small box room where i need to build a single bed to suit a corner with a huge box (cover over stairs in triangle shape). This would require the skills of a handy man, or a tradesman. Too much for my poor husband. Is there anyone who can help me out or can anyone recommend someone they may have used for something similiar. Cost is an issue as we are on a budget.
thanks

My advice is to get the mattress costed for this as if it is an unusual shape it will cost a lot more.
What area are you based.

hi jac,
the main thing is not to panic
im a carpenter by trade....step 1 you need to square off the triangle shape first...... this will give you half a bed ( support )
step 2 you need to then measure what your dimentions are ,of both the matress and the support.
step 3 you then need to with wood construct the rest of the new bed!!
but you will need a carpenter for this job......... there must be some local apprentice in your area , looking to expand his skills.

regards malachy.

Hi Richard,
I am based in Dublin 15. I have had a few quotes varying in price but all offering pretty much the same thing. the bed would be about 3.5 feet in width once made. Some guys have suggested fitting a type of shelf to fill the gap and ensure a standard 3 ft matress would fit correctly.
thanks for your reply

Hi Malachy,
would you mind me asking what kind of price you as a qualified carpenter
would charge for a job like this? Also can you tell me what type of wood should they be using? I am getting ivory wardrobe doors installed in this room, and would ideally like the bed to match if possible
thanks for your adive

I am looking for the same for my daughter's room. She will soon be moving from a toddler bed which fits nicely, into a regular bed. If I buy a single bed it would have to go along the wall under the window...also beside radiator. Fitted on the "box" would be ideal.
My box is already square so should be straightforward to build a bed with toy storage under.

You must get well skilled carpenter fot that job in near area, and also he knows what to buy and what tools are needed for your bed. You can go to your nearest home furniture shop or upholstery shop I think there the one who knows much better in DIY furnishing.
