    I would like to find out if my shopping around paid off for goods. Here are my costs for Furnishing a 3 bed semi detached, 1350 sq ft. Kitchen (cash & carry fitted myself): €4,500 Appliances: €1700 Carpets & floor coverings: €1,765 Blinds: €1200 Furniture: Master Bedroom €999 (Bed, Wardrobe, Chest, Locker) Local Furniture supplier Mattress €588 (Contour memory foam) Two other rooms were furnished with beds / wardrobes / lockers In total furniture came to €4,500 Total so far €13,365 There are a lot of other items to be got I reckon I will have spent approx €20,000 to furnish a new 3 bed semi D.

    Seems about right to me. We spent €7,500 on our kitchen. Tiling was expensive though. €15 per square metre and we had a big area to tile.

    Have recently found buying some second hand furniture great value. Many people just want to dispose of very good quality furniture. If your in no rush to furnish and a little work and patience will prove to be very cost effective.
