    Just some advice,

    don't buy anything on credit (no matter how attractive it seems) from Land of Leather, and anything you do purchase- check extensively for damage (incl. recliners etc.) before signing a delivery docket, as their aftersales service is simply appalling (at least the managers in Newry) - well over 600 customers who have contacted Watchdog about them can't be wrong... other links of interest ;

They do have good bargains, but basically forget about backup & guarantees !

Most furniture these days comes from China or the far east. Even some of the top quality Italian sofa brands are Made in China. If the company is good at ensuring quality control it should not be a problem.

Everyone I have spoken to that has bought from Land of Leather has had a disaster. I was unlucky enough to have bought my sofa before I asked these people. This company is a disaster, please do not buy from Land of Leather. My plan is to design and deploy a website outlining these issues and inviting people to contribute their LoL disaster stories. Lol, a message to you: you have just screwed with the wrong chappy.

    Thank you,

    An unhappy shopper.

    Hi,

they are in Athlone in the New retail park just off the dual carriage way. We have a suite on order and intend to go into the 0%finance which I think on the face of it seems good.

Just ordered a suite from Land of Leather at the weekend and they were more interested in selling the insurance cover for 400 euro than selling the suite. Has anyone any experience of this?

There deals are great, there sofas look good, but that's as far as it goes! Do not buy from Land of Leather, unless you want damaged goods, and poor customer service! I bought from them and recieved my suite 14 weeks later after I placed my original order, 3 seater recliner had 3 rips in the back and two of the reclining mechanisms had faults. The single chair has marks on it as well as a problem with the two seater also. 3 Months later I am still waiting for redress! Land of leather will not replace at any cost, repair is all that is on offer. If I insisted on a replacement I would have to give back my whole suite and wait 8 - 10 wks with nothing to sit on until a replacement came! This is becuase supposidly if the damaged suite was left in my home I would trash it,????? Why would they care, not that I would, Are they going to re sell the suite to someone else??? No refund forthcoming, after my patience ran out, and two unreplied letters later. Today 25/07/07 I received a telephone call from the Area Manager apologising for the lack of customer service! Looks like from this forum, this is the norm!!!! My advice is stay well clear and let your local papers know! tell everyone to beware! Have contacted watchdog, hopefully will run this story to tell all of the dangers of dealing with Land of Leather in the first place!!!!

just wanted to say that i bought a suite of furniture in land of leather in limerick, i had a problem with it as in it started to frey and there was a support board broken.  i rang the shop and they sent out a contractor to look at it for me, i must admit he wasnt that help full and put in a report that it was customer liability which i didnt understand as i only had the suite a few weeks and i also noticed the same problem on the suite in the shop which was on display,  i met with the manager martin, and explained my situation to him, he was very understanding and came out to my house himself and agreed with me that this was not acceptable and it was a manufacturing problem.  He agreed to give me the suite i had previously looked for and gave me a substantial discount and also delivered it out within 2 days,  i know people have had problems with land of leather but i must admit i had my problems the after care service was excellent and i found the manager martin to be very helpful and understanding and really put my faith back into the sales service!!!!!!!!!!!!!  thank you martin and i would have no problem in returning and buying there again.  i had a very good customer experience.

I was also conned into buying a €400 insurance policy from Land of Leather in Leopardstown, Co.Dub

There were some teeth missing from one of the zips on the back of the couch, where the seat backs are attached. It was unnoticeable until I removed the seat back and tried to put it back on.

The way they wrap the product ensures that there is no way to see and defects on delivery.

When I contacted them they of course fobbed me off to their ins. partners in crime. I made an app with the ins. co. and approx 6 weeks later they sent someone local out to 'fix' it. When he arrived, he started taking photos of the damage and declared that his first visit was merely an 'assessment.' The company would get in touch with me and arrange a date for him to return. 2-3 weeks later they did phone back and we arranged an appointment. Again, their earliest was 6 weeks away. I made a note of it in my calendar but completely forgot about it as it was so long since they called. So the guy who turned up to fix it called me but there was nobady at home.

Their idea is most certainly to a).Use charming young sales men with a neck as tough as a jockey's genitals to persuade you that you actually need to be ripped off to the tune of €400

.b). disappoint , frustrate, disillusion and make you wait in the hope that you shall bugger off and forget all about your defect (not damaged at home) couch.

DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY, FOR A COUCH, AND DEFINITELY NOT FOR INSURANCE.

you can get a leather repair person to come 4 times and more to fix your couch for that money, i think insurance is a rip off, and your guaranteed salesperson making commision on that and high commision on that, its a rip off

    insurance number ie (01) 2000200.

We bought  a 3 plus 2 recling leather set off of land of leather it started to rip at the point that bends when it is reclining (behind your bum) on all 4 of the reclining seats. My wife rang the insurance company and they sent someone out."

"Yes that is riped cant be fixed were the rip is, we will be in contact"

No contact was made for 3 weeks until Kellie rang again but this time they rerused to talk to her because her name wasnt on the cert , so i  had to ring up from work and get kellie "added" to the policey,

10 mins later Kellie rings me to tell me we are not covered for this type of damage,

Now i dont know if anyone else actually bought the insurance but basically  we were told these esact words

"if you come in to the sitting room and you see your child has put a knife into it"

"if someone comes home drunk and stands on it putting the high heel trough it"

"your covered ,basically for any damage" BULLLLLLLLLL SH1TTTTTTTTTTTTT

The only people that are covered is that insurance company they cover

Manufactoer defaults - but not all manufactactoers defaults

Accidents - but not alll accidents

    Spills- but not all spills

    you get the point
