The Brocante Market brings Newmarket Square to life once again
The Brocante Market, held every third Sunday of the month, hosts an awesome collection of wonderful antiques, stylish furniture and quirky collectables from past and present. Nestled in a quiet area behind Clanbrassil Street, Newmarket Square comes alive between 11 and 5 and is teeming with everything from the bizarre to the beautiful, the unique and the strange.
Father of the Brocante is furniture restorer and French polisher Pat Cooke. Known locally as The Furniture Doctor, his passion for antiques and contemporary collectables inspired him to create the market a year ago and he says it is finally beginning to get the attention it deserves.
Originally a hidden gem for those in the know, now the good word has spread and each market attracts an ever increasing number of stallholders and shoppers, home owners and designers who come to sell or to shop in Newmarket square.
The Brocante is a product of its time, brimming with bargains and rich in new ideas. People come to take in its bohemian chic atmosphere and to find something unique to take home with them. The next market takes place on October 17th, and whether you're looking to buy or simply looking, strolling through the stalls and stopping for a slice of stone baked pizza, it’s the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Dublin.
