Gilpin's to Close
This Christmas sees the end of 81 years of trading for Belfast store Gilpin's. The well-known furniture and furnishings name is yet another local independent to close its doors in recent times. With the influx of 'big box' retailers, small – and often – family run businesses are feeling the pinch against unbeatable offers to consumers. Director Tony Black states that the lack of local government support combined with the effect of larger multiples left Gilpin's in a no-win situation.
Rebranding Regan Tile Design
Established for 27 years, high profile tile retailer Regan is set to re-brand in January 2008. Taking over the reigns of Regan Tile Design three years ago, owner George Madden says that the time is ripe to update the company image. 'The name will remain the same, as will the same level of quality products and excellent customer care,' states George. 'We are simply moving with the times with a more contemporary image and graphics. In addition, the website will be updated and seasonal brochures are also in production.
