On Sunday 15th June, the Irish Georgian Society will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a very special picnic party at Leixlip Castle, home of the founder of the Society, the Hon. Desmond Guinness. This is an exciting milestone for the Irish Georgian Society, as fifty years of hard work will be commemorated through a special celebration that will gather supporters from all over Ireland, the US and the UK.

It is with deepest regret that we at Conai Designs (Ireland) Ltd. have to announce the closure of our Habitat Franchise stores in Ireland with immediate effect.

Due to a severe downturn in sales in our Galway and Dublin stores, it has become impossible to trade through the subsequent financial difficulties, particularly in light of the current economic environment.

For the second time this month we are pleased to announce that Furniture.ie has won an award. Last week we won 'Best Commercial Website' At The Digital Media Awards 2008 this time we are celebrating winning the award for 'Best Interiors Website' at the Cabinet Maker Interiors Awards 2008.

We are really pleased to win this award as we were competing with web sites from both Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Cabinet Maker Interiors Awards 2008 rewards the best in design and retail from across the interiors market. Products were awarded prizes under the categories of best bed, best cabinet, best dining range, best leather sofa, best fabric sofa best light, and best home accessory. Retailers were awarded prizes under the categories best retailer, best trade marketing campaign, best consumer marketing campaign, retail sales person of the year, and best interiors website.

Prizes were presented at a gala ceremony in the Crowne Plaza Hotel last night (7th February 2008) by MC Dave Fanning who presided over a crowd of 500 digital media professionals.

Minister Eamon Ryan, T.D. attended the ceremony as guest of honor.

Kathy Hoffman, presenter of the interior design show Finishing Touches on City Channel, has been nominated for the Irish Film and Television Academy's Personality of the Year award.

We are pleased to announce that Furniture.ie has been shortlisted for the Digital Media Awards 2008. Furniture.ie is one of seven websites shortlisted in the Best Commercial Website category.

Aga has teamed up with leading international celebrities including Jasmine Guinness, Alex James and Sophie Conran for the new 'At Home' UK marketing and advertising campaign. Photographed by Mary McCarthy, (daughter of Sir Paul McCarthy), these three celebrities were chosen as each of them has a special place in their heart for the Aga. Well known Irish model, designer and mum, Jasmine Guinness, sums it up by saying, 'An Aga is the heart of the home, it makes life so much easier and warmer.'

Furniture Connexions, part of the John E. Coyle Furniture Group, recently opened their latest store in Galway, adding to their two existing showrooms in Dublin and Monaghan. Based in the Briarhill Business Park in Ballybrit, Galway, the 8,000 sq ft showroom showcases a wide selection of quality furniture, from both its own production facility in Monaghan and from leading international brands around the world.

Jointly promoted by the ICT Ireland, Accel and the National Institute of Technology Management, University College Dublin.

This event is part funded by the member companies and by Accel, the European Social Fund and the National Development Plan.

This Workshop will give companies an insight into new marketing paradigms for the rapidly changing world created by the new internet-based technologies. The Workshop will bring together a range of national and international experts to ask: What are the current trends? Where do Irish companies need to position themselves for maximum effect? How should companies support and exploit the opportunities that are available?

After receiving the award for "Internet Entrepreneur" of the year in 2006, Furniture.ie was short listed again this year for an IIA Net Visionary award. The awards are run by the Irish Internet Association (IIA).

This year Furniture.ie was short listed in the Innovation category.
