IKEA recalls Leopard chldren's highchair

Written by Administrator December 22, 2009

Furniture retailer IKEA is recalling a children's highchair because the locks securing the seat to the frame are faulty. IKEA are asking customers who have purchased the Leopard children's highchair stop using it and return the product for a refund.

Snap locks that secure the seat into the frame can break and allow the seat to fall through the frame, potentially injuring the child using it. The broken locks also pose a potential choking hazard to children.

The fault was discovered when IKEA received eleven reports of broken snap locks. In one incident a child was in the seat when the locks broke and the seat fell through the frame, causing bruising to the child's legs. In a seperate incident, a broken snap lock was found in a child's mouth but was removed before the child choked.

IKEA are asking that anyone who purchased one of their Leopard children's highchair models stop using it immediately and return it to their nearest IKEA store.
