An IKEA store in Ireland is now a possibility
Now that changes in our planning laws have being made, the way is clear for IKEA or a similar store to locate here. Will they come? Would it make a difference?

93% of furniture shoppers want IKEA to come to Ireland according to the results of an online user survey carried out on Furniture.ie during January 2004. The total survey size was 279 votes.

Timeline of events leading up to the possible arrival of IKEA in Ireland

  • December 15th, 2005 - IKEA is one step closer. Dublin City Council have agreed the sale of a site to IKEA.
  • February 10th, 2005 - Man Stabbed during IKEA store opening in London.
  • January 11th, 2005 - Way cleared for IKEA arrival, Northside People reported.
  • January 05th, 2005 - Decision made to change planning guidelines restricting a store like IKEA to open in Ireland.
  • November 04th, 2004 - Ban on big shops lifted to let IKEA into Dublin.
  • October 18th, 2004 - Swedish furniture retailer IKEA has identified a site at Ballymun in north Dublin for its first store in Ireland.

When will they come?

We expect that if IKEA were to start right away and get their proposal off the ground then a store will be open in Ireland before the 3rd Quarter of 2007.

hi i would like to oreder some beddinge from the IKEA store in Dublin I live in Austealia and I on my way home Kerry Ireland for Christmas I need to put order my email on over the phone I haved try to ring the store in Dublin on 1890 987 938 no joy can you help please thank you
